ItsNaturallyPure - Our Story The Beginning                     

During the summer of 2008, I lost a very close friend to breast cancer.  She was only 49 years young.

We had spent many hours together at chemotherapy sessions, doctor’s appointments, and radiation treatments.  On the drive to one of them I asked if any one else in her family had breast cancer.  “No!” she told me.  “I’m blazing the trail.”

After her passing, I often thought of my dear friend and wondered why she had breast cancer and others in her family did not.  I became aware of research which indicated that not only the chemicals in our food can make us sick but the chemicals in our favorite cosmetics can also make us sick.  So, on the anniversary of my friend’s death, I decided to stop using all cosmetics and skin care products.  No hair color, no makeup, no body lotions, no face creams, no makeup remover, no fragrances, no shampoo or conditioner.  It was a drastic move but I was scared and very confused.   I didn’t know which chemicals I was using on my body and which ones could make me sick.

While searching for safe products to use, I found an all natural olive oil bar soap. I used only this soap bar to wash my hands, face, body and hair.

I had thought about ‘going gray’ for a long time and I made the decision to do just that. I got my hair cut very short and used no more hair color.

This put my mind at ease, but I still wanted to smell nice, I still wanted to pamper myself once in awhile, and I still needed lotions and creams to keep my skin healthy.  After several months of what I considered a de-toxing of my body from all chemicals, I was ready to carefully resume using products that are safe, pure and natural.

Working together, my husband and I researched and found pure and natural healthy products that would satisfy my needs.  We went one step further,  we only chose products from socially responsible companies that disclose all their product ingredients and do not test on animals.  This meant visiting many sites, there was no one-stop store which offered all the products that met our high standards.
